Solah headdress or “telekung” is one of the dress code or a uniform used by muslim women especially in the South East Asia region when they perform solah.
Our solah headdresses are made from 3 different types of cotton. They are Tetron Cotton (TC), White TC Embroidery, Color TC Embroidery and Jappanesse Cotton.
A pair of solah head dress needs 6 ˝ of cloth.Three and a half of it is used for the head part while the rest is used for the lower part known as ‘sarong’. The length of the head part is longer by 20cm at the back i.e 1.1m in front, 1.3m at the back.
The sarong part is 1.4m long and 1m broad. The head part is layered with another piece of cloth, 51cm in front and 57cm at the back so that it would not be too transparent.
To ensure perfect fitness on the face, smocking is done over the area of the forehead and a triangular piece of cloth to cover the lower chin, thus covering the ‘aurah’ of the face properly.
